ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court issued warrants for the PTI leader Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and Kanwal Shauzab in GHQ Gate attack case.

The Anti-Terrorism Court has issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and Kanwal Shauzab in the GHQ Gate attack case.

The court issued warrants for a total of 14 accused, including other important figures, in absentia. Judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Amjad Ali Shah, rejected the applications for exemption from appearance of all the accused during the hearing of the case.

Those issued with arrest warrants include Zartaj Gul, Rashid Shafiq, Rai Murtaza, Bilal Ijaz and Ahmed Chatha. The prosecution took the stand in the court that all the accused are fugitives and convicted, who have not surrendered before the court so far.

Therefore, exemption from attendance cannot be granted. The court accepted the prosecution’s position and dismissed all the applications. The case has been adjourned for further hearing till September 3.

All the leader were wanted to court in different cases related May 09 violence cases. Leader of the opposition in the National assembly already have been de-notified while Mahmood Khan Achakzai have been nominated as a new leader of the opposition.
