SWABI: The search and rescue operation to locate missing flood victims concluded, and a total of 41 dead bodies were recovered in the Gadoon Dalori area of Swabi which was severely affected by cloud-burst induced floods the other day.
According to a spokesperson from Rescue 1122, Bilal Ahmad Faizi, a total of 41 bodies have been recovered from the debris, and the search and rescue operation concluded in the area.
He said that over 150 rescue personnel worked diligently on the operation for several days without interruption. The spokesperson noted that heavy machinery and modern equipment were utilised to remove obstacles and facilitate immediate access to the missing individuals.
The operation involved 13 ambulances, 3 disaster response vehicles, 2 water rescue units, 3 fire vehicles, a recovery vehicle, 5 excavators, and 2 loaders, all of which contributed to a highly organised rescue effort.
The Dalori village was struck by a cloudburst, which caused massive flooding in the area and washed away many houses and other infrastructure.

In addition, Commissioner of the Mardan Division, Nisar Ahmed, has confirmed that all missing persons have been accounted for. The relief and rehabilitation process is now underway. He stated that each family of the deceased will receive financial assistance of Rs 2 million. Affected families will also be supported in rebuilding their homes. The Commissioner further mentioned that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has been consistently updated on the situation and has shown special interest in monitoring the rescue operation.
