BANNU :A swift and coordinated response by police personnel successfully repelled a militant attack on the Fateh Khel police post in Bannu on Thursday, officials reported.
According to security sources, a group of militants attempted to storm the post, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Mandan police station, using heavy weapons and firearms. The attack was met with immediate retaliatory fire from the alert officers stationed there.
The intense exchange of gunfire forced the assailants to retreat and flee the area. Police officials confirmed that no officers were injured in the incident, and all personnel at the post are safe.
Following the attack, District Police Officer (DPO) Saleem Abbas Kalachi arrived at the scene with reinforcements. He praised the bravery and vigilance of the police team, stating that their timely action prevented a major tragedy.
“The Bannu police are always ready to face any threat,” DPO Kalachi said. “These anti-national elements will never be allowed to succeed in their designs.”
Security forces have cordoned off the area, and search operations are ongoing to locate the fleeing militants. Police officials report that morale is high and they remain determined to eliminate the terrorist threat.
