ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday approved bail for PTI incarcerated leader Imran Khan in eight cases related to May 09 and ordered his release.
The court’s decision came during the hearing of several cases filed against him following nationwide protests and attacks on government and military installations earlier this year.
This important decision was given by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, which also included Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Athar Minallah. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, while delivering an oral verdict after the hearing, said that Imran Khan should be released on bail in these cases.
It may be recalled that the hearing of this case was postponed yesterday due to the ill health of Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi, after which the court rescheduled the hearing of the case today. This decision of the Supreme Court is being seen as a significant development in political circles, especially at a time when Imran Khan and the PTI are facing various legal challenges.
Legal experts say that this decision of the Supreme Court is not only a temporary relief for Imran Khan, but its impact may also have an impact on the overall political situation of the country and future elections.
