KOHAT: A colourful closing ceremony of the shooting gala among teams of erstwhile Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) was held here at Kohat. The shooting gala was organised by the Pakistan Army.
A total of 67 shooters of 11 teams participated in the shooting gala. They participated in SMG, pistol, bolt action and skeet shooting competitions.
The closing ceremony that attracted hundreds of people witnessed Khattak dance, tug-of-war, tent pegging, archery and national songs entertained the audience.
Junaid Iqbal from Orakzai district secured first position in pistol competitions while Shoaib Khan (Bannu) won the first position in skeet shooting.
Hazrat Ali hailing from Khyber won first position in SMG and Ahmed Khan from South Waziristan grabbed top position in bolt action. The Khyber team was declared the champion.
General Officer Commanding Kohat, Major General Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti was the chief guest of the ceremony who distributed prizes to encourage the participating players.
Stalls were also set up featuring Pakistan Army equipment, and used weapons that attract significant number of participants.
The people took special interest in the stalls of weapons used by the Pakistan Army.
The participants thanked the Pakistan Army for organising the shooting gala and termed the gala as an important milestone in the shooting talent hunt.
“We are proud of our Pakistani forces, whose eternal sacrifices made peace possible” said one of a student attended the event.
The students said that Pakistan Army is always ready to defend the country and the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistani forces.
