WhatsApp is developing a new feature called “Voicemail” to make missed calls more useful. The feature is currently in testing with a small group of Android users.
According to reports from WhatsApp Beta Info, the new option will appear when a user makes a call that isn’t answered. Alongside the standard “Call Again” and “Cancel” buttons, a new “Record Voice Message” button will pop up on the screen. This same shortcut will also be available inside the chat.
While users can already send voice messages using the microphone icon, WhatsApp believes this new direct shortcut will save time and make it faster to leave an audio message after an unanswered call.
It is not yet known when the voicemail feature will be released to all WhatsApp users worldwide.
