Peshawar admin imposes ban on sale of unhealthy foods near schools

PESHAWAR: The district administration of Peshawar on Tuesday imposed a ban on the sale of unhealthy food items in the vicinity of schools.

According to the notification issued by the deputy commissioner, Peshwar Capt (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram on Tuesday, the administration of the provincial capital had imposed a ban under section 144 of CrPc on the sale of substandard food, including chips, snacks etc near schools.

The DC Peshawar order said that the sale of substandard food within a distance of 150 meters of various schools had been prohibited.

It said strict and prompt legal action would be taken against those who violate the ban on substandard items.

According to the announcement, this order of the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar would remain effective for the next 30 days to discourage shopkeepers, and street vendors from selling substandard foods and causing health problems to the children.
