The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has made a significant decision to eliminate written examinations for general recruitment. Instead, candidate selection will now be based solely on a test consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
The FPSC has issued a public notice stating that this new system will take effect on September 21, 2025. Under the new procedures, written exams will be replaced by MCQ-based tests for all positions from grades 16 to 21.
Candidates applying for BS-16 and BS-17 positions will take an MCQ paper worth 100 marks, while those applying for BS-18 and above will have to complete two MCQ papers.
To pass, candidates must achieve a score of at least 40 to 50 per cent. Additionally, 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. It is important to note that this new system will not apply to Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations.
