Flood relief ops in full swing on PM, Field Marshal’s orders: DG ISPR

The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, announced that relief operations are currently underway in flood-affected areas, following instructions from the Prime Minister and Field Marshal.

During a press conference held alongside Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Chaudhry stated that the army has rescued 28,000 individuals so far and remains committed to supporting the public during these challenging times.

He reported that two soldiers from the Pakistan Army have lost their lives and two others have been injured in the course of the relief efforts. Additionally, three major bridges affected by the floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit have been restored, while army battalions are actively engaged in restoration efforts in Azad Kashmir.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry mentioned that army engineers have collaborated with the district administration to clear roads. Presently, a significant rescue operation is taking place in Kartarpur.

The DG ISPR emphasised that the Pakistan Army is continuing its operations against foreign elements even in these trying circumstances, ensuring that they cannot exploit the situation. The army has also established 29 medical camps in the flood-affected areas.

He concluded by stating that during this difficult time, the officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army are fully engaged in relief operations, and that no external force can sow discord between the Pakistani people and their army.
