US-India relations strained as Trump calls off planned visit

"Lost His Patience": Trump Reportedly Criticizes Modi as Visit is Canceled

A major diplomatic dispute has erupted between the United States  US and India, leading President Donald Trump to cancel his upcoming trip to India.

The cancellation, confirmed by senior U.S. officials, is due to growing tensions over trade and foreign policy. According to reports, President Trump is unhappy with India’s refusal to agree to a new trade deal and its lack of cooperation on U.S. tariffs. These tariffs have negatively impacted Indian exports, including textiles, leather, and food products, worth over $48 billion.

A significant point of conflict is India’s stance on a proposed ceasefire with Pakistan. The report states that President Trump called for a four-day halt in fighting approximately 40 times, but Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not agree to the proposal.

President Trump has reportedly criticized Prime Minister Modi, stating that he has “lost his patience” with the Indian government’s stubbornness. Despite multiple attempts by President Trump to discuss a tariff agreement, Indian leaders have not shown a willingness to negotiate.

The cancellation of the visit signals a serious rift between the two leaders.
