TikTok DMs get an upgrade with voice & photo sharing

TikTok Removes 25 Million Pakistani Videos in First Quarter of 2025

The video-sharing platform TikTok is expanding its direct messaging (DM) service with new features to become a better social space for its users.

In the coming weeks, the app will gradually roll out the ability to send voice messages and images within direct messages. According to a company spokesperson, these updates are designed to help users connect more deeply with friends and communities beyond just short-form videos.

Company spokesperson Joshell Jones confirmed that the new features will be available to all TikTok users who already have access to the DM function. However, the company emphasized that these changes will not apply to younger users. Direct messaging, including the new features, will remain restricted to users aged 16 and older.

This move is part of TikTok’s ongoing effort to enhance how its community interacts on the platform.
