PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is facing a potential economic crisis and a sharp rise in inflation due to severe floods in Punjab, analysts warn.
The floods have severely damaged Punjab’s agricultural and industrial sectors and disrupted key transport and logistics chains. As Punjab is a major supplier of goods, this disruption is expected to severely impact the supply of essential commodities to KP.
Senior analyst Tariq Waheed stated that this could lead to price hikes of up to 50% for essential items in the province. He urged the government to immediately mobilize resources to ensure smooth transportation of goods between provinces to protect people from shortages and inflation.
Traders and citizens in KP are calling for immediate government action, including the release of special relief funds, to mitigate the impending economic hardship.
