The Iranian President expressed deep regret over the loss of precious lives and financial losses resulting from the ongoing flood situation in various parts of Pakistan, saying that the Iranian government and people stand with Pakistan in this difficult time.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezizkian, in which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening relations and promoting bilateral cooperation. The Iranian President expressed his determination to stand with Pakistan on the flood situation. The Prime Minister said in his address to the SCO meeting that we are looking for dialogue and diplomacy for normal relations with all neighboring countries, we respect all international and bilateral agreements, nothing more than sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezizkian met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China on Monday. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and federal ministers were also present.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s deep commitment to its historic and brotherly relations with neighboring Iran and highlighted the strong foundations of relations based on shared history, cultural heritage and faith.
The two leaders reviewed the status of bilateral cooperation in various fields and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-Iran relations.
President Pezishkian appreciated Pakistan’s continued support for Iran and reiterated Iran’s commitment to enhance bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister, while mentioning the visit of the Iranian President to Pakistan in August 2025, said that this visit was instrumental in further improving and strengthening the relations between the two countries. He added that the Pakistani people were very happy with the recent visit of the Iranian President.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of further strengthening political and economic relations between the two friendly countries.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people and government of Iran and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, calling dialogue and diplomacy the only viable path towards de-escalation and stability.
