PM Shehbaz Sharif condoles losses in Afghanistan earthquake

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed deep condolences over the loss of life and property following a powerful earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan and parts of Pakistan.

Writing on X while attending the 25th SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in China, the premier said he was “deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, which shook Kabul and was also felt in Islamabad and other regions of Pakistan.”

He extended heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families, noting the reported deaths and destruction of villages. “On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, I offer our prayers and condolences to the bereaved families,” he said.

Sharif affirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with Afghanistan, stating, “We stand with our Afghan brothers and sisters in this hour of grief and are ready to provide all possible support.”
