Pakistan on high alert as India warns of severe flooding in River Sutlej

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan to declare a high alert in nine districts of Punjab following India’s warning about a high-level flood situation in the River Sutlej.

According to reports, the Indian High Commission officially informed Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources about the expected flood surge in the River Sutlej, particularly at Harike Lower and Firozpur Lower barrages, where high-level flooding is expected.

Following this notification, the Ministry of Water Resources issued flood alerts to relevant agencies and provincial governments to ensure preparedness and a timely response.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab also issued a high-level flood warning and declared high alert status across nine districts vulnerable to flooding.
