KP seals 51 health facilities for violations

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission (KP HCC) on Wednesday sealed 51 healthcare facilities for operating without licensing, prior approval of the government.

KP HCC spokesperson Azm Rehman said that it conducted inspections of 520 health care establishments (HCEs) across the province over the past two weeks. During inspection, 51 outlets were found operating without licensing.

The Commission also served notices to various other outlets for various violations.

Azm Rehman further said that 226 HCEs were registered in the last fortnight.

The Commission conducting surprise visits to ensure patients’ safety and bring to an end illegal practice in the field of health, he said.

He said that awareness sessions seminars have also being organised at various educational institutions to educate the public about its role and responsibilities.

He said that the Commission had received 39 complaints from citizens regarding different health outlets. Of these, 32 were resolved in accordance with regulations, while seven remain pending. Three hospitals and four GP and specialist clinics were assessed, with one hospital receiving its full license.
