LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced that Assistant Commissioner Patoki, Furqan Ahmed Khan, who tragically passed away during a flood relief operation in Head Balloki, will be awarded a high-level civil award in recognition of his service.
According to a spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Furqan Ahmed suffered a fatal heart attack while visiting flood-affected areas as part of the ongoing relief efforts. Despite being a cancer patient, he had been on continuous flood duty for four days, actively helping provide food, medicine, and essential aid to the flood victims.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has praised the late officer’s dedication and declared him a true hero, adding that his commitment to public service would always be remembered.
CM Maryam has also approved a grant of Rs. 10 million (PKR 1 crore) for Furqan Ahmed’s family, in addition to the civil award.

The Assistant Commissioner was on duty in the flood-hit areas near the Ravi River in Head Balloki on Sunday when he collapsed and succumbed to the heart attack.
