Rescue agencies and local administration have been put on high alert in Peshawar due to the threat of high-level floods. Fears are being expressed that several residential areas will be submerged, which has caused serious concern among citizens.
More than 16,000 cusecs of water in Budhni Nallah, alarm bell. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the amount of water discharged in Budhni Nallah at Darmangi area of Peshawar has reached 16,142 cusecs, which is considered a high-level flood. In view of this situation, the NDMA has issued an alert.
The following areas of Peshawar are likely to be affected by the flash flood: Warsak Road, Darmangirigi, Larma. Rescue 1122 and other local agencies are fully prepared to deal with any emergency, while instructions have been issued to residents of low-lying areas to remain alert, take precautionary measures and stay away from flooded roads or electricity poles.
The administration has appealed to citizens to avoid rumours, follow official instructions and contact Rescue 1122 immediately in case of any emergency.
