ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released updated figures on the devastation caused by ongoing rains and floods across Pakistan.
According to the report, 881 people have died and 1,176 others have been injured nationwide. Punjab has suffered the highest toll with 223 deaths and 648 injuries, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 48 deaths and 359 injuries. Sindh reported 58 fatalities, Balochistan 26, Gilgit-Baltistan 41, Azad Kashmir 37, and Islamabad 8.
The NDMA said the victims include 510 men, 134 women, and 237 children, while among the injured are 565 men, 289 women, and 322 children.
The floods have also destroyed 8,206 houses and killed 6,180 livestock, intensifying the humanitarian crisis.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised concerns over a surge in waterborne diseases in flood-affected regions, warning of a potential public health emergency.
