PESHAWAR: Students from the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) wing at the University of Peshawar staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday against the closure of two university gates.

Islami Jamiat Talaba, a student union active at the University of Peshawar, organized the protest, which began with a rally from the coffee shop to the main gate, where participants shouted slogans against the university administration.

Waqas Ahmed, a member of the Islami Jamiat Talaba and a student at the university, told Pakhtun Digital that a total of six gates have been closed for the past seven months. This includes one main gate providing access from University Road and another gate leading to the main GT Road, located near the coffee shop.

The protesters expressed that the closure of these gates has caused significant difficulties in their movement to and from the university. They demanded that the university administration immediately reopen the main gates to alleviate the problems faced by students.

According to this reporter, currently, there have been no negotiations between the university administration and the protesters, however, a heavy contingent of police has been deployed at the scene to manage the situation and prevent any incidents. The students have stated that their protest will continue until their demands are met.
