PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has sanctioned Rs1 billion for flood relief and rehabilitation, according to a notification issued by the provincial finance department.
The allocation follows a decision by the provincial cabinet on August 20, 2025, and will be transferred to the Director Relief of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) under a supplementary grant. The finance department confirmed that the relief package was already included in the KP budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 and emphasized that fund utilization would be closely monitored in line with financial regulations.
Meanwhile, recent floods have severely impacted Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure. A federal report indicated that 104 health facilities across the country were affected, with seven completely destroyed and 97 partially damaged. The worst-hit areas include KP, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In KP alone, three health centres were entirely destroyed, while Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan each lost two facilities to flood damage. Officials warned that these losses could further strain healthcare services in the already affected districts.
