KARACHI: The Sindh government on Wednesday announced public holidays on September 5 and 6 in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
According to an official notification, all government offices and educational institutions across the province will remain closed on both days. However, officials engaged in flood management, emergency services, and other essential duties will continue working.
Earlier, the federal government had also declared September 6 a nationwide holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, is observed across Pakistan with religious zeal and devotion. The day is marked by processions, gatherings, and seminars highlighting the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
On August 24, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee confirmed that Eid Milad-un-Nabi would fall on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon was not sighted. The announcement followed a meeting chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, attended by officials from the zonal committee, SUPARCO, the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
