India opened the spillways of the Baglihar and Salal dams due to the high water level in the Chenab River and informed Pakistan of the possible floods through the High Commission.
According to Indian media, the spillways of the Baglihar dam were opened due to the high water level in the Chenab River due to heavy rains, and the gates of the Salal dam built on the Chenab River were also opened. Indian media say that the flood in Chenab River is the result of heavy rains in the upper areas of India.
On the other hand, India once again informed Pakistan about the flood through its High Commission. In a letter sent by the Indian High Commission to the Pakistani government, it has been said that water is being released in the Sutlej River at Harike Lower and Ferozepur Lower.
The letter says that due to the release of flood water, there will be high floods in the Sutlej. The Ministry of Water Resources has issued a flood alert following the Indian letter. The high level of water so far claimed the lives of 36 people in Punjab and displaced 3.5 million people in the country.
