Rescue and relief activities are underway with support of Pakistan Army and the civil administration in the flood-affected areas of South Punjab.
Dozens of villages have been submerged due to the continuous rise in the water level in the rivers, relief operations are continuing effectively in the affected areas. An unusual increase in the water level has been observed at Ganda Singhwala in the Sutlej River, in view of which Pakistan Army teams are on high alert to deal with possible threats. At least 49 villages have been affected by the flood in the Ravi River at Sahiwal, the Pakistan Army and the civil administration have jointly established 30 relief camps.
The Rango Dam bridge collapsed due to extremely high flood at Head Sadhanai in Khanewal, which has been immediately repaired and restored by the Pakistan Army and relevant agencies. Pak Army rescue teams are also engaged in relief operations in the affected areas of Talamba, Mian Channu and Abdul Hakeem.
So far, thousands of local people and their livestock have been shifted to safe places. Successful rescue operations are also underway in other places including Behrampur, Rangpur, Jawana Bangla, Moradabad, Doaba and Ashiq Chowk in Muzaffargarh. Relief and medical camps have also been set up by the Pakistan Army and civil administration in the affected areas. Medical aid, food, water and accommodation facilities are being provided to the victims.
