ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday denounced what it termed a “premeditated attack” on party founder Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, during a media interaction.
In a statement, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram called the incident “cowardly and shameful,” alleging that two masked women carried out the assault and were deliberately allowed to escape. He said the episode reflected the “frustration of an illegitimate regime.”
Waqas described the incident as part of a broader pattern of harassment against women in politics, drawing parallels with attacks on Nusrat Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto in the past. He accused the government of “crossing all limits of decency and ,” further inflaming the country’s already tense political atmosphere.
Despite the disruption, Aleema Khan remained composed and continued her press talk, which Waqas said symbolized PTI’s resolve to press ahead with its struggle.
Reaffirming the party’s stance, he stressed that PTI would not be deterred by “cowardly tactics” and vowed to continue its movement for “constitutional rule, democracy, and judicial independence.”
