Field Marshal Asim Munir paid tribute to the brave martyrs as Pakistan celebrates Defence Day

Pakistan Army Chief spotted wearing field marshal badges — historic second in nation’s history

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other top military leaders of the country paid tribute to the brave martyrs and their families on the occasion of the 60th Defense and Martyrs Day.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu issued a message on behalf of the armed forces.

In their message, the top leadership said that the day of September 6, 1965 is a metaphor for the unwavering resolve, national unity and timeless story of bravery of the Pakistani nation.

He said that on this historic day, the brave soldiers of Pakistan, together with the nation, defeated the numerical and military superiority of the enemy and crushed his aggressive intentions.
The message said that the sacrifices of the martyrs are a bright chapter in our history, which gives the message that any enemy can be defeated with the power of sacrifice.

The top military leadership said that the armed forces are not only at the forefront of protecting the country’s borders but have also always stood by the people in natural disasters and tragedies.

The message expressed complete solidarity with the affected people in the context of the current flood situation and assured all possible assistance.

The top military leadership said that we renew the pledge today that we are always ready and alert for the security, sovereignty and peace of the country and if anyone challenges the peace of Pakistan, it will be given an effective and decisive response.

The message also prayed for the security, stability, development, and peace of Pakistan.
