PESHAWAR: Residents of Peshawar are facing yet another price hike as the cost of a 20-kilogram bag of fine flour (maida) climbed to Rs 2,750.
According to reports, the price of a 20kg bag of fine flour rose by Rs 150 in just a single day.
The Flour Dealers Association confirmed that the price of fine flour has gone up by Rs 150 per bag, while mixed flour has seen a Rs 100 increase. This brings the new price of a 20kg bag of fine flour from Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,750, and mixed flour from Rs 2,500 to Rs 2,600.
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reports that the national average price for a 20kg flour bag has now reached Rs 2,500. However, consumers in Peshawar and Bannu are paying the highest prices in the country.
Citizens have expressed frustration over the continuous inflation in basic food items, as flour is a staple in the daily diet of most households. There are growing concerns that the price hike may worsen if immediate measures are not taken by the government to stabilize the market.
