LAHORE: Pakistan will host Sri Lanka for a three-match One Day International (ODI) series in Rawalpindi from November 11 to 15, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Monday.
The announcement comes a day after the PCB revealed plans to hold the country’s first-ever T20I tri-series featuring Sri Lanka and Afghanistan from November 17 to 29 in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
According to the PCB press release, this will be Sri Lanka’s first bilateral ODI tour to Pakistan since 2019, when Pakistan won the three-match series 2-0, with the first ODI in Karachi abandoned due to rain. The release also noted that Sri Lanka’s most recent visit was in 2023 for the ACC Asia Cup, where they faced Afghanistan in Lahore.
The PCB confirmed that the maiden T20I tri-series will follow the ODI matches, while Pakistan will first host South Africa for two ICC World Test Championship matches and six white-ball games from October 12 to November 8.
International cricket in Pakistan had stalled after the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore, forcing the national team to play home matches at neutral venues such as the UAE. Gradual restoration began in 2017 with the ICC World XI T20 series, and earlier this year, Pakistan hosted the ICC Champions Trophy, although India played their matches in Dubai. This marked the first time Pakistan hosted an ICC event since 1996.
