ISLAMABAD: Retired Rear Admiral Fawad Amin Baig has revealed that the Pakistan Navy, with China’s help, has discovered major undersea gas reserves along Pakistan’s maritime territory.
While talking to private news channel Geo News, Rear Admiral (R) Fawad Amin Baig emphasized that Pakistan holds immense potential in the blue economy, with its sea not only rich in minerals but also in various untapped marine resources.
Baig said that the Pakistan Navy played a pivotal role in advancing maritime exploration, adding that a comprehensive survey conducted in collaboration with China confirmed the presence of large-scale gas reserves in Pakistan’s maritime territory.

Rear Admiral (R) Baig added that efforts toward Pakistan’s economic growth are often targeted by hostile forces using fifth-generation warfare to deter investors. However, he remained optimistic that joint efforts by the SIFC, military leadership, and political stakeholders have positioned Pakistan to adopt strategic measures and move toward sustainable economic growth.
