Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Barrister Gauhar, expressed that the recent violence against journalists outside Adiala Jail was deeply regrettable and should have never occurred. He clarified that the party has offered an apology for the incident, and an internal investigation is currently underway.

In a video statement issued alongside PFUJ President Afzal Butt, Barrister Gauhar emphasised that it is entirely unacceptable for any party member to assault a journalist in a moment of anger. He stated, “Whoever was involved in this incident will be thoroughly investigated, and we urge a comprehensive inquiry to prevent similar occurrences in the future.”

He further highlighted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has consistently advocated for journalists’ rights and has always supported them during challenging times. “We have also opposed the PECA laws that threaten journalists. This reflects the vision of PTI and Imran Khan, and Aleema Khan has consistently been an advocate for journalists’ rights.”

PFUJ President Afzal Butt added that journalists do not have personal conflicts with any political party, and any incidents that occur are viewed as unfortunate accidents. He mentioned that since the leadership of PTI has apologized, the RIUJ and the National Press Club have decided to call off their ongoing protests.
