PESHAWAR: The residents of Peshawar are witnessing a wave of inflation, with prices of essential food items skyrocketing and slipping beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.
According to details, after flour prices saw a steep rise, now other essential items, including lentils, rice, and vegetables are also witnessing severe price hikes in the provincial capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The price of tomatoes has surged past the double-century mark, reaching Rs. 200 per kilogram. Other essential items include Ginger: Rs. 500/kg, Garlic: Rs. 400/kg, Chana Dal Rs. 320/kg, Rice 350/kg, Sugar Rs. 190/kg, Cooking oil/ghee Rs. 480 to Rs. 550/kg.
Similarly, flour prices remain alarmingly high, with a 20kg bag of fine flour selling for Rs. 2,500 and mixed flour at Rs. 2,400 in Peshawar.
