Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held a high-level meeting on Thursday, attended by regional presidents and general secretaries, during which the party passed a comprehensive resolution addressing a range of political, administrative, and constitutional concerns.

At the forefront of the resolution was a strong condemnation of the continued detention of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The party demanded their immediate release and denounced the charges as politically motivated.

The meeting also called for a complete halt to military operations and drone strikes in the merged districts (formerly FATA), emphasising that such actions undermine peace and development in the region. The party insisted that the Supreme Court appeal regarding Article 245 — currently pending against the “Action in Aid of Civil Power” — be withdrawn, and full civil authority be restored in the province.

PTI leaders demanded that all cases registered on political grounds after the events of May 9 be dropped and that officers involved in any illegal actions — particularly those related to the February 8 general elections be held accountable.

Reaffirming Imran Khan’s policy, the party urged the provincial government to strictly follow his stance on mineral resources. It stressed that the KP Assembly must be consulted before any agreements concerning the province’s natural resources are finalised.

Further, PTI demanded that all federal agreements, including recent deals with the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), foreign companies, and contracts from the former FATA region, be presented before the KP Assembly for scrutiny. The party insisted that any exploitative agreements must be cancelled or amended to protect the rights of the people.

The resolution also opposed the controversial Kalabagh Dam project, warning that it would lead to the submergence of fertile land, the displacement of communities, and heightened inter-provincial tensions.

In line with Imran Khan’s environmental vision, the party called for the expansion of the Billion Tree Program to promote water conservation, prevent flooding, and ensure long-term ecological sustainability.

Finally, the party cautioned the federal government against pushing unilateral military operations or resource-related agreements, stating that if such actions continue, the KP government must withdraw its cooperation and stand with the people, as per Imran Khan’s directives.
