Imran Khan’s sons submit application to UN for his release

Imran Khan's sons apply for Pakistan visas

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sons, Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan, have approached the United Nations against his imprisonment.
The two sons have filed a formal appeal before the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, demanding an immediate investigation into the alleged inhumane treatment faced by the PTI founder and steps to secure his release.
The appeal has taken the position that their father has been kept in solitary confinement, facing conditions such as poor food, lack of medical facilities and constant surveillance.
The appeal has said that all this treatment is against human dignity and a clear violation of international law.
Qasim Khan said in his statement on the social media platform X (Twitter) that my father is being punished for standing up for democracy. He has been kept in solitary confinement and is not allowed to see doctors or seek legal advice.
Qasim Khan further claimed that thousands of his father’s supporters were also either kidnapped or presented in military courts, which is an example of political revenge rather than justice.
He appealed to the international community that democracy in Pakistan is in danger and the world should stand with human rights and democracy.
PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari also confirmed in a tweet that appeals have been submitted to the UN Special Rapporteur for the PTI founder and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
According to him, Suleman and Qasim Khan submitted an application for Imran Khan, while Maryam Wattoo submitted an application for her sister Bushra Bibi.
Zulfi Bukhari said that we will continue to raise our voice against inhuman treatment and illegal imprisonment on every platform. For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the wife of a political prisoner has also been jailed. The nation stands with its leader and will never give up.”
He also extended special thanks to Jared Genser and Jacob Bogart of Precision Strategies, the team that prepared the legal appeal for the United Nations.
