During the visit, the Army Chief was given a detailed briefing on rescue and relief operations. While talking to the civil administration, he stressed the importance of good governance and development based on public welfare. He said that we cannot afford the loss of precious lives and property every year, so infrastructure construction and flood prevention measures must be accelerated.
In a meeting with the flood victims, Field Marshal Asim Munir assured them of full cooperation and timely rehabilitation. The victims expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Pakistan Army for the timely assistance.
The Army Chief appreciated the spirit, high morale and day and night hard work of the Pakistan Army personnel, Rescue 1122 and police personnel engaged in rescue operations. He said that the joint efforts of civil and military institutions are the best example of public service.
Later, he also conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Peerwala to directly inspect the damage and relief activities.
On his arrival on the visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was welcomed by Corps Commander Lahore and Corps Commander Multan, while the Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officers of the civil administration were also present on the occasion.
