LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed electricity distribution companies to stop collecting last month’s bills from consumers in flood-affected regions.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore, the Prime Minister said that consumers who had already paid their August bills would have the amount adjusted in the next billing cycle. He added that a comprehensive relief package on electricity bills for flood-hit areas would be announced once discussions with the IMF are finalized.

The Prime Minister highlighted that floods have devastated millions across the country, stressing that the government is making every possible effort to ease people’s hardships. He said federal and provincial authorities are fully engaged in rescue and rehabilitation operations, which will continue until all affected families return to their homes.
