DUBAI: In the fifth match of the Asia Cup T20, Sri Lanka delivered an impressive performance to defeat Bangladesh by six wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first — a decision that backfired early as both openers were dismissed for ducks. The middle order steadied the innings, with Litton Das scoring 28, while Shamim Hossain (42) and Jaker Ali (41)* put together an unbeaten stand that lifted the total to 139 runs.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga bowled brilliantly, claiming two wickets, while Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara picked up one each.
Chasing 140, Sri Lanka’s openers adopted an aggressive approach. Pathum Nissanka smashed a quick-fire half-century off 34 balls, while Kamil Mishara remained unbeaten on 46. Captain Charith Asalanka finished the job with a brisk 10-run cameo, as Sri Lanka reached the target in just 14.4 overs with four wickets down.
Bangladesh bowlers struggled to contain the opposition, with only Mahedi Hasan showing some resistance by taking two wickets.
