ISLAMABAD: The prices of petroleum products are likely to increase by up to Rs5 per litre from September 16.
According to reports, a proposal has been submitted for a 15-day price revision, suggesting marginal increases in all major petroleum products. The proposed changes include Petrol:
Rs1.54 per litre increase,
High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs4.79 per litre increase,
Kerosene Oil: Rs3.06 per litre increase,
Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Rs3.68 per litre increase.
Currently, petrol is priced at Rs264.61, and high-speed diesel at Rs269.99 per litre.
Industry sources further clarified that these proposed prices do not yet include government taxes or exchange rate losses, which may impact the final rates.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is expected to send its summary to the government on September 15. Final approval will rest with the Prime Minister, after which the Ministry of Finance will issue an official notification for implementation.

The potential price hike comes amid rising international oil prices and a depreciating local currency, putting additional pressure on the country’s inflation outlook.
