India comfortably defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in the sixth match of the Asia Cup, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing Pakistan’s target of 128 runs, India reached the score with the loss of just 3 wickets, thanks in part to Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, who finished not out with 47 runs.
Opener Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma both scored 31 runs before being dismissed, while Shubman Gill contributed only 10 runs, all three falling victim to Saim Ayub.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, but struggled from the outset. Dismissals came at regular intervals, and they managed to score only 127 runs for the loss of 9 wickets over 20 overs.
The first wicket fell on the very first ball of the match, with opening batsman Saim Ayub dismissed without scoring. Mohammad Haris followed shortly after, dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for just 3 runs.
Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan tried to stabilise the innings, but Zaman was dismissed for 17 runs with the team total at 45. Captain Salman Ali Agha struggled against the Indian bowlers, scoring only 3 runs before being out. Hassan Nawaz managed 5 runs, and Mohammad Nawaz was dismissed without scoring. Safyan Muqim made 10 runs before getting bowled out.
Sahibzada Farhan showed some resistance, scoring 40 runs off 44 balls. Faheem Ashraf was out LBW for 11 runs. Shaheen Shah Afridi provided a late spark, scoring 33 runs off just 16 balls, including 4 sixes.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets, while Deepak Patel and Jasprit Bumrah each claimed 2 wickets.
