Owing to flood situation in different areas of Punjab and Sindh, the Meteorological Department has issued a dengue alert and directed the public to take preventive measures to counter the diseases.
The Meteorological Department says that due to the flood situation, there is a risk of dengue spreading in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Peshawar. The dengue virus can affect people on a large scale in flood-affected areas including Sukkur, Hyderabad, Multan.
The Meteorological Department says that the flood situation is being faced due to the flow and discharge of water from the monsoon and rivers. Due to flood water and poor drainage, dengue mosquitoes are getting an environment to breed.
The institutions, ministries, district administrations controlling the dengue virus should be on high alert, and hospitals should keep their arrangements regarding dengue complete in every respect.
