LOWER DIR: Timergara Medical College remains non-operational, and classes have yet to begin at the only medical college in the area.

According to reports, two years ago, the Headquarters Hospital Timergara was designated as a medical college (teaching hospital), and construction of the college has been completed. Appointments for faculty positions, including professors and a principal, have also been made. However, the teaching process has not yet commenced.

In an interview, the superintendent of the college informed Pakhtun Digital that the college is still awaiting a visit from Khyber Medical University, which is a necessary step before the formal teaching process can begin.

In early January, a high-level meeting was heldat Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, with the elected representatives from Lower and Upper Dir districts to discuss the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) approval for Timergara Medical College and student admissions in the current academic session.

The meeting deliberated extensively on the essential requirements for PMDC approval, including the college and hospital infrastructure, available medical facilities, bed capacity, and the requisite faculty. Key decisions were also made in this regard.
