Six Terrorists Killed in Intelligence-Led Operation in Karak, KP

Security forces conducted a targeted intelligence-based operation in Karak, successfully neutralizing a group of terrorists. The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed that six terrorists were killed during the operation. The ISPR statement described the militants as “khwarij” and stated they had been “sent to hell.”

Following the engagement, security forces conducted a thorough sanitization sweep in the area to ensure no further threats remained. Officials reiterated that eradicating terrorism remains a top priority for Pakistan’s armed forces, and such operations will continue to safeguard peace and security across the country.

This operation comes amid a concer ning rise in terror-related incidents across Pakistan. According to data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), January 2025 saw a 42% increase in terror attacks compared to December 2024. A total of 74 militant attacks were recorded, resulting in 91 fatalities, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. Additionally, 117 individuals were injured, comprising 53 security personnel, 54 civilians, and 10 militants.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bore the brunt of these attacks, with 27 incidents reported in settled districts, leading to 19 deaths, including 11 security personnel, six civilians, and two militants. The former tribal districts of KP (erstwhile FATA) experienced 19 attacks, resulting in 46 fatalities, including 13 security personnel, eight civilians, and 25 militants. Balochistan also reported a significant number of attacks, underscoring the ongoing security challenges in the region
