International Mother Language Day Afrasiab Khattak

Peshawar: On the occasion of International Mother Language Day,  former Senator Afrasiab Khattak, a prominent politician and central leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM), highlighted the significance of mother language  in preserving cultural identity and heritage. In a conversation with Pakhtun Digital, he emphasized that a person’s mother tongue is a reflection of their thoughts, emotions, and cultural roots. He stated that languages serve as the true identity of nations, safeguarding their history, traditions, and beliefs.

Senator Khattak stressed the importance of prioritizing mother tongues in the education system, noting that it is the most natural and effective way for children to learn and comprehend. He argued that neglecting native languages in education undermines cultural preservation and intellectual development.

Shifting focus to regional politics, Khattak expressed skepticism about Pakistan’s current approach toward Afghanistan. He asserted that sending delegations to Afghanistan would not yield meaningful progress unless Pakistan revises its fundamental policy toward its neighbor. He called for a realistic and balanced strategy to improve bilateral relations, urging policymakers to move beyond superficial measures.
