KP govt issues show cause notice to former DG health over corruption allegations

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government issued a show cause notice to the former Director General (DG) Health Services, Dr Shaukat Ali here on Saturday.

The notice comes in response to allegations of corruption, mismanagement, and incompetence during his tenure. The notice also includes a warning of potential forced retirement.

According to sources, an inquiry committee conducted a detailed investigation into the conduct of Dr Shaukat Ali, a BPS-20 officer.

Following the inquiry’s findings, which corroborated the allegations against him, the government has mandated him to present his defence within ten days.

According to the health department, if Dr Shaukat Ali fails to offer a satisfactory response, unilateral action will be taken against him.

The notice further highlights that the former DG Health was allowed to clarify the charges before the inquiry committee. However, the government is now considering further legal action based on the severity of the allegations.

However, Dr Shaukat Ali is currently awaiting reassignment but given the ongoing inquiry and the government’s actions, his future within the health department remains uncertain.
