PESHAWAR: The leadership of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) alleged on Sunday that three students from Khyber Medical University (KMU) were injured after police assaulted the protesting students on the University road, Peshawar.
Waqas Ahmed, a member of the Islami Jamiat and a student at Peshawar University informed Pakhtun Digital that Islami Jamiat students from Khyber Medical University held a protest on University Road, blocking traffic.
The protesters stated they were demanding permission to hold a book fair at the university.
According to Waqas, the students have organized a book fair every year in Peota Hall, but this year the university administration is not permitting it, prompting their protest.
The students accused the police of violently disrupting their peaceful demonstration, resulting in injuries to several participants.
The protesters condemned the police’s actions and called for accountability of the officials involved in the violence against them.
