PESHAWAR: Another mega corruption scandal has surfaced in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the official documents available with Pakhtun Digital, Rs 26 billion was caused by manipulation in the tender of the 88-megawatt Gabral Hydropower Project in Kalam Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO) had invited bids for the Gabral Kalam Hydropower Project.
This project was to be awarded to the Gabral Kalam Hydropower Consortium.
This energy project included the Chinese company Guangdong Yuantian Engineering Company Limited and the Pakistani company RMS Private Limited.
The bid submitted by the consortium was unusually at a very low price which raised questions.
Concerns were raised about the construction experience and track record of the consortium. The initial cast of the project was 64 million. Later the cost was raised to $ 124 million which cost 26 billion rupees to the national exchequer.
Sources say that the consortium had submitted a fake bank guarantee for another project in Sindh.
