Peshawar to Hold Moon Sighting Meeting for Ramzan on Feb 28

PESHAWAR: The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Peshawar on February 28 to determine the start date of Ramazan in Pakistan. The committee will review moon sighting reports to officially announce the beginning of the holy month.

According to the Meteorological Department, the moon’s age at sunset on February 28 will be approximately 12 hours, with a height of 5 degrees, making its sighting potentially challenging. Based on this forecast, experts suggest that the first day of fasting in Pakistan is likely to fall on March 2, 2025.

The annual Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting brings together scholars and experts from across the country to make a final decision on the Ramadan start date. This year’s meeting will follow the same tradition, ensuring a unified announcement for the nation.
