Azerbaijan to acquire JF-17 Thunder jets from Pakistan

Pakistan’s Information Minister Atta Tarar announced in a TV interntviw that Azerbaijan is set to purchase its first batch of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan, with discussions ongoing for future joint production of the aircraft.

Alongside defense cooperation, Azerbaijan has committed to a $2 billion investment in Pakistan to strengthen economic collaboration. Tarar stated that talks on the investment are in their final stages.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is scheduled to visit Islamabad in April, where agreements on the $2 billion investment and defense cooperation are expected to be finalized, according to Tarar.  During recent high-level talks, the two nations signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including defense and trade. Officials from both countries have called on businesses to take advantage of emerging investment opportunities, aiming to further solidify the growing partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
