PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote population management, family planning, and gender equality in the province.
Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati witnessed the signing. Special Secretary Waqar Shah and UNFPA’s Dr. Dr. Luay Shabaneh signed the agreement.
The MoU focuses on legislative cooperation for population-related issues. It includes a parliamentary forum, new laws, and awareness campaigns.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati called the agreement a historic step. He stressed the need for balanced population growth, public health, and women’s development.
“Joint efforts are essential for family planning and women’s rights,” he said.
