Security of the Chines national’s top priority

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police  IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP  Zulfiqar Hameed visited Tarbela Ghazi Tunnel V and reviewed the security of Chinese engineers and workers  on the site on Wednesday.

On the occasion, he met Chinese officials and security officers and discussed the necessary measures to ensure the security of the development project.

The IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the security of development projects is his top priority, and all possible steps will be taken to ensure foolproof security.

He directed the police officers to further strengthen the security of Chinese workers and to take special security measures during their movement.

During IGP visit DIG Hazara Nasir Mehmood Satti, DPO Haripur Farhan Khan, SP Special Security Unit Tahir Khan and other officials were also present there.

The IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspected the security arrangements at the site and received a briefing from Chief Engineer Waseem Raza regarding security and development works.

The IG Police also met Chinese officials and discussed security-related issues and difficulties with them.

He said that the Tarbela Ghazi Tunnel V project is very important for meeting the energy needs of Pakistan and the safety of foreign experts working on this project is the top priority of the government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

On this occasion, the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also met with officers of the Special Security Unit, in which they were briefed about the ongoing development work on the project, the safety of foreign experts and other security matters.

While visiting various security points of the project, he directed the concerned authorities to further tighten the security of Chinese engineers and further improve the security arrangements at their residences, workplaces and during their travel.

He directed the concerned authorities to use modern technology for the protection of Chinese experts and to further tighten the surveillance of the access routes to their base camp. In addition, he also emphasized the need to continuously improve security measures through security audits.

The IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assured the Chinese engineers of full cooperation, upon which the Chinese experts appreciated the steps taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and expressed satisfaction with the security provided.
