ABBOTTABAD: Tourists who traveled to the popular destination of Galyat to experience snowfall got stranded in various locations on Thursday due to heavy snowfall. In response, the Galyat Development Authority (GDA) has begun efforts to evacuate these tourists.
The Galyat Development Authority (GDA) director general, Shahrukh Ali, said that Galyat has been experiencing heavy snowfall, with several inches of snow received so far in the area, which has attracted nature lovers from different parts of the country.
GDA director said reports were received about the tourists stuck in the various areas of the tourist hotspot of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“We have launched a special operation to rescue tourists stranded in various tourist destinations of the area due to heavy snowfall,” the GDA director asserted.
He said GDA rescue teams had been evacuating the stranded tourists to safer places and providing them with food, warm clothes and other essential relief items.
GDA head also noted that the GDA machinery is busy clearing snow and restoring roads for all sorts of traffic.
The GDA director suggested that tourists travel keeping in mind the weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel and contact GDA rescue teams in case of any emergency.
GDA has set up a special control room for the rescue operation, from where the rescue teams are being monitored.
GDA has deployed additional staff at various tourist spots to deal with any emergencies.
